The first half was predominantly one-way traffic as Pompey made chance after chance. Misses from Bishop and Raggett were followed by a moment of controversy. An attempt from Raggett was blocked on the line by Longwijk’s arm, but neither the referee nor linesman saw the issue and play went on.
Pompey finally got their deserved lead in emphatic style. Josh Koroma, making his first start for the club, picked up the ball on the left hand side and fired a curling effort into the back of the net. A strike similar to Lomana Lua Lua against Aston Villa back in 2005!
A fairly even start to the second half was followed by a Plymouth fightback. Mumba escaped down the right hand side, and his cross was accidentally turned home by Sean Raggett in the 74th minute.
5 minutes later, the Pilgrims had the lead. Ennis latched onto a through ball and slotted cooly home.
It looked for all the world as if Pompey had thrown away their unbeaten start to League One life. But, in the 94th minute, just after Galloway was sent off for Plynouth, Fratton Park exploded. Morrell’s cross was headed home by Hackett to rescue a point for Pompey.
A 2-2 draw in the other top-4-clash means that Pompey remain 2nd, level on points with leaders Ipswich with the two sides going head to head on Saturday 1st October.
