Pompey sign Towler

Pompey have announced the signing of Ryley Towler from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee (believed to be £30,000).

A well-regarded, 20-year-old defender that spent the first half of the season on loan at Wimbledon, he’s a perfect fit for Pompey’s new recruitment policy.

Pompey have acted quickly to sign Towler, considering the club are currently without a manager. However Sporting Director, Rich Hughes, has been fond of the player for some time.

Speaking to the club website, Hughes said “We’re delighted to get the deal over the line and sign a player with the profile of Ryley.

“When it broke earlier in the day that we were interested in a deal, I’m sure there were a lot of clubs kicking themselves that they weren’t able to act sooner.

“Having someone with his skillset and ceiling to progress is great for this football club, so it’s great to have him on board.”

Towler will, however, not be eligible for tomorrow’s trip to Tottenham as he’s already made 3 appearances for Wimbledon in the FA Cup.
