Burton Albion 0-2 Pompey

Pompey made it 6 wins on the bounce with a 2-0 victory over Burton Albion.

The Blues managed to avoid both the “Manager of the Month” curse and Burton’s “New Manager Bounce” as they brought home 3 points from the Pirelli Stadium.

The deadlock took some time to be broken, but the Brewers defence was finally breached just before the hour mark. A young Pompey fan drying the ball before Pack’s throw in was the start of some neat work on the right hand side, and Sam Hughes put the ball in his own net.

Pompey thought they had a second just five minutes later. Dane Scarlett expertly chipped into the back of the net, but the referee called it back for a foul.

Some resolute defending followed, and Pompey were rewarded for their bravery 5 minutes from time. A low cross from Owen Dale was converted by Colby Bishop. He wears a magic hat, you know.

The win sees Portsmouth hold onto second place, level on points with Ipswich, ahead of their game against Plymouth on Saturday.
