Pompey need you on the brink of promotion!

Published: 14/04/2023

As the men’s team stare down the barrel of yet another season in League One, with the Play-Offs looking less likely each game, it’s easy to get disheartened with Portsmouth Football Club.

But Pompey is more than just the men’s team. And the Women have been having an incredible season in the Women’s National League, with the Blues having plenty to shout about!

Jay Sadler’s side sit 4th in the table, just 2 points behind leaders Oxford United, with 3 games to go. And who are the Blues playing the weekend at Westleigh Park? You guessed it. Oxford United.

Pompey lost 2-0 to United in the reverse fixture back in October, however have already shown that they can defeat Oxford. The two met in December during a wet League Cup fixture at Westleigh Park, with Pompey emerging victorious.

Pompey will then travel to MK Dons before closing out the season at Fratton Park as they play host to bottom-side, Crawley Wasps.

It truly has been a remarkable season for the Women’s team, providing a ray of hope to Pompey fans that it’s not all doom-and-gloom. If you’ve not yet been to watch them in action, now is absolutely the time to get to Westleigh Park or Fratton Park to really back the girls and push them over the line.

A lot of the team and backroom staff are still volunteers, and they do a fantastic job. To be in with a shout of promotion with 3 games to go is a huge credit to all involved with out incredible club.
